The other day while coming home the song Unconditionally by Katy Perry came on and something that we all started to talk about is how we all see this as a song from the Lord. This then sparked a conversation on how when we listen to love songs even if they are secular we can turn it around to point back to Jesus.
I really started to notice this in me when I was listening to music on death road in Bolivia heading to our ministry site. It was night time and all I could see was a river and the stars and moon shining above and the song I Like to Be With Me When I’m With You by Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors. When listening to that song it made me realize I like how I am when I am so in-tune with the Lord and then when different love songs would play on my iPod, I would start to immediately think about Jesus.
This car reminded me how how I still will think about Jesus when listening to a love song, especially Unconditionally by Katy Perry. When I listen to this song I just hear Jesus singing those words to me because that he loves me no matter what and there is no condition to his love.
Another song I have recently stumbled upon is Hollow by Tori Kelly and the chorus hands down is what I have learned in myself. I am fragile and I am hollow and I want my cup to be filled with His love. When I listen to this song I immediately start singing it to Jesus and how I know there is a whole in me that only He is meant to fill. I love how we can see Jesus in the secular!!!
