This past Monday I learned a neat little mediating tool to use that will help me in memorizing Bible verses but also speaking truth in myself. It also is an amazing way of praying a certain verse over yourself and really focusing on what the Lord is saying in that verse. So we were to pick a verse and then circle around three words that stuck out to us and then we were to take the three words and break them down to what we see them meaning. After spending time doing this, we were to write down a prayer that is thanking the Lord for how he has been working in our lives in the context of the verse. Here is the verse the Lord laid on my heart:
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” – Luke 1:45
The three words that I felt the Lord was pointing out to me were: blessed, believed, and promises. For blessed, I wrote down 1) provided for 2) in abundance 3) loved. Next was believed, 1) faith 2) knowing it will come to pass 3)trust. The last word He pointed out to me was promises, 1) someone’s word 2) gift. Here is the prayer that I wrote down:
Abba,
Thank you for always providing for me and blessing me with an abundance, even when I may not see it. Thank you for loving me more than anyone ever could or that I could ever dream of. Abba increase my faith in you and continue to remind and show me what you have done in and through me. Thank you for the trust I can have in you and for knowing that you will follow through on what you set before me. Abba I know your word can be trusted and how it is a gift of encouragement and hope in my life. Thank you for your never changing self and the new creation you have molded me into. I love you my beloved. Amen!
This activity is now probably one of my favorite ways to get in the word and memorize it, along with praying this every day for a week. Also, taking it a step further in also praying it over someone else that the Lord points out to me and needs it. I am going to continue to use this activity and each week take another verse and break it down the same way and create a prayer to go along with it. I want to encourage y’all to try it and see what the Lord shows you. It is such an incredible time that I can spend in the Word and learning the Word.
