The beginning of a new season with a new community and place is how this week started out. Welcome week for CGA started this past Monday and what came with it was handing in all of our technology, including devices that had music. For those of you that know me, you know that music is a huge thing is my life. So I was a little nervous about going a week without having any music for quiet times, before going to sleep, and just for down times during the day. To be honest, I really did not care about not having the ability to talk to people outside or social media, it was just the loss of my music. Through this though the Lord showed me how much I value you music and how I needed to be more aware of music becoming an idol in my life. Yes, it is great to have it, even for worshipping but I can worship without music and how silence is such a beautiful thing. I really started to see how much I just enjoyed having silence and all I could hear were different things around me happening; like hearing the wind blow against in the trees and causing a sweet rustling or different housemates cooking or walking around. Sitting in that complete silence listening to the Lord and having all of my focus solely on him and not on music going on around me. Silence is such a beautiful thing that we take for granted so much.
